The EscapeBy: Alice Ward
“He’s doing really good,” Kenzie whispered incredibly loudly to one of her new friends.
I laughed, so did Madeleina. So did everyone else.
It was perfect.
Just so damn perfect.
Especially when she said yes.
The ring fit her perfectly. “There are three stones because it’s not just me you’re taking on. I know we’re a lot, but we all needed you. We’re all so very glad you saved us.”
She turned, tears streaming from her eyes to take my children in her arms. She kissed their cheeks, hugged them so tight both of their faces turned red.
Then she was in my arms again, her family surrounding us as we began this new chapter of our happily ever after.
“I love you,” I said and touched her stomach. “And I already love our baby. I can’t wait to meet him or her.”
She beamed at me, one of those megawatt smiles that nearly took me to my knees. “I love you too, so very much.”
“Yay! I’m a princess,” Kenzie yelled and wiggled her eyebrows. “This is going to be fun.”
